Introducing the Newest Member of Our Family: Staubie
Staubie just came back from the vet, testing negative for FIV and Feline Leukemia! She is now an official member of our family here in Nashville.
Her introduction was lauded with a pat of butter that she and Mighty each got to eat a piece of in the interest of encouraging them to like one another.
Indeed, they have worked out an initial truce and we only let them hang out when Staubie wants out of the kitten room and Mark and I are home to supervise.
In addition to the proud mama, are her four chubby kittens, now a week old. So far, we have no open eyes, but "the orange one" is showing signs of developing slits. He is also the fattest of the four, though he is learning to share his mama's milk.
Following are photos of each kitten after one short week of life. Let me know which one you think is the cutest... We are open to ideas for better names too!
The Grey One
The Orange One
Minime (Because he looks like his mama)
The Calico Gal

Oh, these kittens are all so cute! I did not see minime in the first photo because his color is just like mama's. They all look so cute and healthy! Wow, mama cat and kittens are so lucky to have you! That is amazing that they all have different colors. I will post a story and link on my cat's website!
Do you think yur cat and my cat can be cyber friends?
This is Lannae's cat. Staubie and kittens are all so cute, and I am positive it would wonderful to be cyber-friends! I bet if I met Mighty too, I would like him as a cyber-friend too! Meow!
Aww--isn't that wonderful! They are so adorable--you are so nice to give Stauble a home, when she most needed it!
I saw this on Cookiecrumb's website:

Eat Locally for about $70 per person per week. (does not include eating out, which is about another $70 per person per week).
I went to Earthday at Centennial Park yesterday, and met a group of CSA, organic and local farmers having a booth inside the 8th Ave Farmers Market on Saturdays 9a-1p selling meats and veggies. Also, starting in May, the Franklin Farmer's Market behind the Factory will be starting up on Saturdays too. Lastly, on Thursays 11a-3p on 3rd and Union, downtown in the People's Square (in front of the Mayor's office) will be yet another local farmer's market.
Also, as you know, Delvin Farms has a CSA box of locally grown veggies that you can buy thru Plumgood.com
So, get on 840 over to Franklin, or 24 into Downtown, and find the local farm fresh foods!
About the eat locally challenge, as you know how difficult it is to find locally grown organic foods in the Nashville Metro area, yet we are surrounded by farm land. One week in May, I am going to make this challenge work for me and Matt. We are going spend less than $144 for the week on only locally grown foods that I am going to buy from the Farmer's Market, find a decent bottle of wine from a local winery, get some Jack Daniel's, and see how I do. My oregano, thyme and parsley are doing well, but my sage is only so-so after the freeze, so I have some local organic herbs to work with.
Are you game for eating locally?
You can do it with work, travel, 2 properties, 2 cats and 4 new kittens.
