    Wild Rice with Carrots
    2 c water
    1 c (6oz weight) wild rice
    2 carrots, 1/4" slices
    1 small onion, chopped
    1 tsp salt

Bring all to boil; simmer, covered, 50 minutes to an hour.

Variations: try it in your rice cooker
use chicken broth instead of water

    Spinach with Sesame and Garlic
    3 TBSP dark sesame oil
    1 TBSP minced garlic
1 lb fresh spinach, roughly chopped
1 sploot honey (gives it a teriyaki flavor)
    1 TBSP soy sauce
    1 TBSP toasted sesame seeds*

    * fry raw seeds 1 minute in the oil, and they'll be toasted

Heat oil over medium heat, add garlic. When garlic sizzles, add spinach and stir, cooking only until wilted. Turn heat low.

Stir in honey and soy sauce, turn off heat. Sprinkle on sesame seed (if you didn't toast them as part of the whole process).

    Variations: other oil
    other greens, fresh or frozen
chopped fresh ginger with the garlic
